Department of Bio & Nano Technology
The department is offering M.Sc. in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Botany, M. Tech. Nano Science & Technology, and B.Sc.-M.Sc. dual degree in life science is renowned for its excellence in education and research. With state-of-the-art lab facilities, it provides hands-on experience and fosters a conducive environment for scientific exploration. Therefore, it is recognized as one of the best in India. It consistently produces skilled professionals who are contributing significantly in the fields of biotechnology, microbiology, nano science and technology. Each of the enrolled students under DBT-sponsored seats is eligible for monthly stipend as per DBT guidelines. The department is well-equipped with modern equipment and advanced laboratory facilities. It has dedicated faculty members who are involved in improving genetically important plants and microbes using recombinant DNA technology, genomics, metabolomics, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics approaches. The department also focuses on the development of nano biosensors and conducts studies on the synthesis, application, and toxicology of nano materials. It has a strong bioinformatics facility supported by the Department of Biotechnology and the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India. The department has received financial support from various programs such as SAP/DRS-II from UGC, FIST-II from the Department of Science and Technology, and TEQIP III - World Bank Assisted Project.
Department of Environmental Science and Engineering
The establishment of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering aligns with one of the university's objectives to promote studies and research in Environmental Studies and Non-Conventional sources. The department offers innovative and flexible course curricula, allowing students to choose courses of their interest and undertake research projects. Moreover, vision of the department is to achieve sustainable development through excellence, and our aim is to provide training for capacity building to address environmental challenges in an eco-friendly manner. Our objectives include offering professional and job-oriented courses, strengthening R&D activities, and providing consultancy and extension services to stakeholders. Our faculty members are actively engaged in research in cutting-edge areas of science and technology. We have ongoing research projects supported by government agencies, and our laboratories. We create an enabling environment for students, promoting culture, sports, societal contributions, art, self-governance, and human values. The department has been selected for the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme-II (TEQIP-II) of the World Bank and the Special Assistance Programme-II (SAP-II) of the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, after successfully completing phase-1. Additionally, we have received a FIST Grant from DST for infrastructure development.
Department of Food Technology
The Department of Food Technology, Guru Jambheshwar University Science & Technology, Hisar focuses on providing quality education and training to meet the increasing demand of the food processing industries. They also strive to develop innovative technologies for the conservation and processing of raw foods with value addition. The department offers various programs, including Ph.D., M.Sc., M. Tech., B. Tech, and B. Voc. in Food Technology to cater to the needs of the food industry. The objective of the program is to train talented individuals who can contribute to the country's food security. The faculty is actively involved in research funded by different agencies, focusing on areas like cereal science, nutraceuticals, functional foods, fruits and vegetables processing. The department laboratories, including the central instrumentation laboratory, are well-equipped with advanced instruments to support research and practical learning. Many students from the department have secured positions in reputable institutions and organizations.
Department of Zoology
Department of Zoology came into existence in 2023 which is driven by a vision to instil a deep understanding of animal life and its intricate complexities. M.Sc. Zoology program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education in the field. Emphasizing theoretical knowledge and practical skills, the program equips students with the tools necessary to navigate the multifaceted realms of zoological research, conservation, and education. Our meticulously crafted curriculum covers a broad spectrum of topics, including systematic, fisheries, ecology, genetics, physiology, and conservation biology.
